Star

In the sky
A star sparkles
Forcing a bird to fly
Seen amidst the heavy clouds
Shining like a diamond, the bird glitters with the light
Of the star
Traveling
Across the horizon, across the vast sky
Of dreams, of hope
Landing where no one will land
One day

Power

I am power
Coming from the unknown
I shone
Through hardship and grief
Not knowing who or what I was
I dug out of that grave with my name
Engraved on the headstone
Of bitter fruit

You can’t break nor shake me
Not me or that power surge I was made out to be
Like lightning like fire
Life is all that I desire
To shine to radiate
To not be a minute late
In sending out energy
In sending out vibes
To even make people get inflicted with hives

I am power
Bursting through the seams
Of that cloth bound by the thread
Of time,
With rhythm and rhyme

Hope

Hope is man’s greatest resource, and without it we are lost. To hope is to have faith and belonging in a cause.

In my life, time and again, I have hoped and have dreamed.  I know that God in one or many forms is great and is able to hear us from below.  It is just the time that makes us question God’s benevolence while hoping.  To wait is nerve wracking, with our faith then becoming less and less, and then us eventually losing our hopes.

God’s ultimate plan for us humans is to have hope though, and the biggest way God has showed hope is through time.  With each passing of the minute hand, a surprise is waiting for us, and through time, we are led to many surprises.  Time in the end is our biggest surprise!

Fire

Burning
From a single flame
Red rises
Until it reaches its maximum height
It forms, it contours
A shape
Emerges

Engulfed by heat, it rises
A burning passion
A sensation
Grips the earth
Forces from above
Drawn by the heat
Shapes this creation
Love
That from which has no explanation
It penetrates
Two individuals, One like the sun and one the moon,
This mystique, this charm
Forming
Heartbeats.

School

Seeing fellow peers
Catching up on big and small news
Hovering near a classroom
Organizing my notes for an upcoming class
Orchestrating people towards the right direction for a walking tour
Lulls me into the swing of life!

Flight

It was true, I hadn’t known you
Nor wanted to be
A person carrying a heavy fee
On my countenance, on myself

You came out of the blue though
Erasing all lost hope,
I became strong
I became confident
Knowing that you were right there with me,
I started to fly

Sure, there were times that my wings were stoned
So that I was knocked out of the sky
Crashing and bumping against the trees to the ground
Wings outstretched, face to the ground
You were there for those times though
Lifting me with your positive energy
I regained the strength to fly again
Having you by my side
We both were lifted into the air
Circling and hovering over hills,
Scraping the surfaces of the glassy blue waters
We flew to new heights

Never looking back on our sadness and miseries.

Three Seasons

Winter is…
Bleak,
Cold,
Depressing

I am,
Promising,
Warm,
Happy

With these two emotions, the autumn leaves fall off the tree.

Lonely Rose

A lonely rose waits at the edge of the water
Its stem to the vast blue, it waits to take root beneath the surface
Or to Float away
To some other land of hope.

Gloria Maxima

Silence is the loudness
The raging beat that amplifies my soul
Bringing me to my knees
In prayer
In solitude

The bells ring
In the nearby chapels
As angels raise me to my feet
Leading me indoors,

I am

Suddenly loud

Looking Glass

Rain falls as I sit near my window
With a looming cloudy day, I see no beginning
To this tainted state I am in
Just fear and loneliness

In the distance, I am watched
By a thousand eyes
I am lost
In a world of no meaning
No joy
No hope
I struggle to find solace

Here, within these barren walls

Beacon

With a quiver amongst the leaves
A baby bird prepares for flight
Not knowing where it will end up
He starts to fly

Over mountains and among oceans
This baby bird finds its wings
Playfully circling around the clouds, it doesn’t meddle with the sun
Like wax, the bird’s wings are delicate
Not wanting its life to end early, the bird flies

With one fell swoop, the bird lands
Across the glossy silvery surface of water, it catches fish
Its feet latched firmly onto the fish,
It flies to a nearby branch to feast.

With this routine of food and rest set, the bird journeys far
Until it lands on top of a lighthouse,
A beacon for wanderers and travelers alike,
As it rests and waits.

Berkshire Hills

The Rolling Hills
Of paradise
Is where I live

The sounds of birds,
That could be black, red, orange, yellow, and blue
Warms my spirit as they feed on our bird feeder

Trees that now have green leaves in the summer
Have orange, yellow, and green leaves in the fall
Having no leaves in winter,
The burst of green leaves again rejuvenates our souls in the spring

The air,
Vast and always smelling fresh
Hydrates this green land,
The birds, the grass, and the trees
Shaping the place I call home

Holiday

I journey
To the Center of the Earth,

There,
I find the crystal blue waters
Of Man…
Brushing against the emerald green shore
The sensuous feeling
Captures my soul as
Above, the seagulls call
My Name, my existence

I Journey
To the Center of the Earth

Strength from Hope

Dedicated to those we know with cancer, may all of our loved ones find peace.

Life
Once filled
With hope
With dreams.

Memories once at a door,
Now in the wind
Traveling among
Hills, over mountains.

Lives
Outside of hospital doors
Outside of laboratories
Waiting to hear of that illness
That takes millions, waiting
Whether to smile or frown
Waiting to celebrate another birthday
That we are invited to

Strength sees to it
That no one loses
That there’s a purpose
To everything, no one is left out
Without a chance, without a battle

Sunshine

The earth is alive
With music, with life
The world is painted anew

From the stinging effects of terrorism
We combated, with cradling more terrorism
The hatred between brethren
Has now been to construct a barrier between US and Mexico

The difference between right and wrong
Is, having a gun permit, but having that same gun within a child’s reach

The world is watching, as the market economy plunges to the bottom
As the money, either being spent or being saved to be spent, is being spent by the lobbyists

I shudder at society
Not knowing whether future generations will be safe
The moon shines over the land, making it morning
With a crack of red, the sun paints the sky anew

The Exorcist

Sounds of Silence
Ring in the New Year

Ring away the heartache
Ring away the strife

There is a hole in the wall, with blood signaling the fist that made it.

Interpreting Humanity Through Haikus!

The Opening hand
Feels the warmth of the sun’s rays
Oh, to taste freedom!

Happiness is within
Obtaining a blissful moment
Hark, a Festival comes!

Sleep strains someone’s soul
Luring through its lullabies
Good Night and Good Luck!

An illusion of love
Comes from a simple dreaming state
I paint with Dawn’s Colors!

Eden’s Garden

Life is an apple

With its outer red exterior, it stirs

A triumph, a sorrow

Wriggles around, within this red…

A worm lives!

The apple’s core is inside this red fruit

Holding the seeds for future apples,

The seeds are secure, for their future growth and development.

Now tunneling out of the apple, the worm has now left a nice circular hole,

The seeds succumbing to the great wind,

As man is great

As man is evil

Only an apple a day can keep the doctor away!

Faerie Dust

A finger is over my mouth,
Two palms are over my eyes!

I skip on over to the happy forest
Babbling with green, the sunlight plays upon the glossy green of a leaf
The colors of the earth alive,
I am suddenly caught in the arms of my playmate
Picking me up and twirling me around
I am enveloped into this moment
A jovial bliss, I am finally on the ground
And suddenly, I cannot talk
I cannot see
I ask what is going on.

The queen approaches, her light footsteps felt by all
A shimmer of light transcends these palms over my eyes
Of gold, of silver, I am suddenly surrounded
Not by one, but by many
Finally able to open my eyes, I find the forest transformed
Into light, into happiness
Flowers spring up, birds sing, trees dance
As my playmate is a faerie
As his mother, the queen of all faeries embraces me
Making me a faerie princess,

I find that dreams
Do come true!

Sensual

A burning passion

Shapes my spirit

Setting my throat on fire,

I feel liquid contour and bend from within me

Forming an outline to my heart,

The place where my life is sustained

I feel the earth shake around me

Trembling, I touch your face

Silent Minds Give Way to Loud Hearts

You are silent

With those wide set eyes, you move me

How did it happen,

That my heart is loud, but my mind is silent

Your legs move, you run past me

And yet it turns out that in reality you are only walking

How did the silence of the atmosphere around us turn SO silent all of a sudden?

As if we are trapped in a moment that can never leave us,

Where is the loudness that consumes an ordinary day?

Traffic moving and people hastily crossing the streets…

The Babbling of languages in giving everyday directions…

The news that comes on CNN…

China has won 17 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics!

4 Chambers of the Mind

Thump…Thump

The heart beats

Memories echo

Within the walls of the room

They seem,

To utter a single most theme

A silence, An insanity

The Smiling Box

She touched the small box in her pocket and smiled. It was what she wanted for a long time, as she always made a point of passing the "Nature and Outdoor recreation" store, thoughts of this fluttering in her playroom always consumed her mind. Spring time, a time for remembering one's own longing and a loved one's sacrifice, was the holiday in which she finally received the Box of Wonder. She untied the pastoral green and pink ribbon box, and seeing this Gift of God inside this square wooden box filled her with delight!

She, a young girl of ten, had to live life to the fullest. Her playroom at home was a small container that had stuffed animals, Barbie Dolls, and counting blocks from her past childhood years. She had a wide range of Barbie Dolls, from a doll who was a lifeguard to a Barbie who was a dentist. Dogs and cats were her favorite animals, so she had a wide array of tigers to beagles in her storage bin. Besides her playroom which didn't have a window to let in light, her whole house was dark, for they lived in a metropolis. Each day she was found to be indoors, for she had no other desire to explore the vast city she lived in. The neighboring kids were impossible to befriend, as they threw numerous amounts of eggs at her as she was walking on the sidewalk and even at her window when she was in the car with her parents. She therefore stayed inside all day and either studied her school materials, read for pleasure, or played with her toys. She was at least advanced for her age academically, even reading a novel on her own—an ability that no other child her age could do. The counting blocks, once used to aid her in everyday counting, was now hindering her ability to remain young forever.

Like the beautiful sight of a rainbow that comes after a rainfall, so to did a Ulysses Butterfly fly out from the wooden box and fly into the blue sky one spring morning. Morning was approaching quickly, and somehow this morning was different from other mornings. Light was permeating itself through every crack of the house, shining on the stuffed cats and dogs. It was light that suddenly made her little boxed playroom into a jungle, and everything in it so alive and exotic. As soon as the light filtered in, a Barbie well equipped to go exploring was found springing out from beneath the play bin, anxiously awaiting this budding adventure!

Joy, or the little girl who was sad, ran from surveying her room after breakfast, and into the day. She was, after all, chasing after her runaway gift!

Back to School

I go back to school today

Textbooks, papers, and pens are packed

In that big thing we call a backpack,

As it anxiously waits to break our backs

Or to go on a piggy back ride.

The hill is steep,

The bus rolls down,

We go to school

Bullies wait,

The health office opens

Jack sees Jill

Jill breaks up with Jack

The soap opera of life bangs its fist from inside a locker

Hopes set

The heart pounding

As Tommy becomes the class president

A mixture has exploded within the lab in chemistry class.

The principal makes his announcement on the intercom

Jill is pregnant

With Jack's baby, they end their relationship

As Jack then comes out of the closet, broadcasting that he is gay

The bus, dependant on gasoline, has stopped moving

For it has run out, the bus driver's pockets having been empty from the night before

As he spent that money on lottery tickets

The chemistry experiment,

As it was laid out in steps on the internet,

Was to build an atomic bomb—

By those same bullies, for their senior prank

The bomb squad comes

The light is at the end of the tunnel

Bliss

I went on vacation

To some remote island,

The sea gulls call

As the waves tumble on the shore

Filling its white sand of past memories

Toronto Travels

O Canada!

How I find you so pretty

From New York, I marveled at your “1000 Islands”,

As the beauty blinded me on top of a sky deck

I saw you border with the red apple

The customs, in the middle of all the nostalgia

Was waiting for all passports from incoming visitors

Into your realm

Time's Property

I need You, with you
You need me, with me
We are “vacation”.

The hour glass is gone
The vessel that holds
Time has floated from shore

Surrounds us with Love
As we journey here

Minutemen Mirth

The summer breeze finds me

As the sun also shines on my face

The rain concludes the joy!

Bright flowers are here

As the bee pollinates them

One by one, they bloom!

The ocean breeze rolls

Onto the land filled with sand

Filling its shells with salt.

MOTHER

As she cradles her newborn

This life that has waited nine months to breathe the outside air

She reminiscences her girlhood years, remembering her girlhood filled with dreams and hopes

Enveloped into the time it took to deliver, Mother now seeks a happy life for this child-- struggling

With the maintenance of his foundation, his home, and his belongings—Mother as a mortal filled with happiness and sorrow—battles for child.

She strives for perfection, imitating the sacrifice her own mother had done for her. Relinquishing stamina and sleep, Mother will narrate her child’s history.

जय हिंद

Rolling along the bright shore of Bombay

The waters of the Arabian Sea calls me

There have I spent my time

Amidst the monsoon rains

Caught up in the heat of the day

I collect rocks and pebbles

During Bombay’s continued summer

Walking along the vicinity of a park

I see people exercising...

Practicing Karate, walking, and playing sports

I was playing a sport once as a child here

Running fast with a smile on my face, I

Savor those times.

As I dream of returning to Bombay, India

The Paradise of the world

God Bless America

A Soldier

Fighting to protect his homeland and self

Materializes before my eyes

A red heart, a white birth, and a blue sky

Forms his existence

As he would continue to serve the elders

The ones who dictate the good and dictate the bad

Fighting in Iraq and coming back home alive

Opening the door to my life,

Literally, as I either entered or left a room,

A total stranger happened per chance to be at my service!

Traveling to Europe and Asia,

This international soldier of mine,

He has persevered among his peers

Acknowledging the many ideas that people across continents share and value

Like the military, teamwork is his foundation as an individual

With the will to change, he has the true spirit of an eagle.

He doesn’t stray from those that may be in harm’s way.

Treating everyone as they were all the same.

With a future that is as bright as it is promising, I would want peace and happiness to shine for him

From the four corners of the earth, I would want belonging and unity to always serve him

And to emphasize

We all

Are equal under the sky

Darkness

Darkness
Like a leaf in winter,
Tarnishes my character
As a single light by my window attempts to fill me with hope
As I start my tale

Of

Sorrow of being alone
Grief at the loss of a

All on the edge of my pen
As I write
This tale

I

Shudder at the things I have come to
Mock existence at its truest form

The single light of hope all at once burns out

Utopia

When April showers shower

And May flowers flower

I shall go home

To the hills of Eglomè

Its Green Hills, the Paradise of man

Rolling lazily with Green

Of Glories past

Deck the picturesque landscape

As it Rolls into the clear blue sea

A blue abode of life

Schools of fish

Dart playfully among corals

Its thin, glossy fins sweeping the plants

Gracefully, one can see

The dolphins,

Happily gliding through waters

Of turquoise, here is Eglomè

My home, where the sun

Paints the sky of blue

Language

As summer turns to autumn,

The leaves cascade down to the earth

Two figures rise from these falling leaves

A Dancer in black and a Dancer in white

Finding their way to the center of the woods,

These dancers inscribe their identities into the cold, barren earth

Stepping through the fallen red, yellow, and green leaves

Reaching the center of the woods, they feel a sudden warmth

Vibrant with life, this earth is the opposite of its desolate outskirts

Inviting the dancers to make eye contact,

The ground begins to babble.

As the dancers stamp the ground, their creators become one

As the dancers twirl, their cultures become one

Stretching out their hands to another,

The dancers embrace

As One.
